Survey: Nursing Home Workers Feel They Have A Good Place To Work

Most nursing home employees like their work and recommend the places they work at, according to a survey by independent research group, My Innerview.
Of the more than 223,000 employees who responded to My InnerView's National Survey of Consumer and Workforce Satisfaction in Nursing Homes, 66 percent said that their facility was a "good" or "excellent" place to work and 73 percent of them rated their facility as a "good" or "excellent" place to get care.
Among nurses and nursing assistants in particular, the percentage rating their job satisfaction as as "good" or "excellent" were 58 percent and 57 percent, respectively. Those numbers have gone up over the last two years.
Although satisfaction levels are high, the report states that job stress is the main source of complaint for nurses. Managers who were most actively engaged with nurses - who listened, cared about staff and helped them with stress and potential burnout - were the most favorably ranked.
Nursing for the elderly is a challenging job, but one that provides satisfaction for those who are called to do it. If you want a fulfilling career, perhaps you should look into getting a nursing degree.
