The president of the American Nursing Association is a nominee for Modern Healthcare magazine's 8th annual 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare competition.
Modern Healthcare is a leading source of healthcare business news, and one of the most-read publications in the healthcare business field. Their annual list of most powerful people is voted on by their readers and voting continues through June 26.
Rebecca M. Patton, president of the ANA, is one of the nominees. She has been a nurse since 1980, and is currently the Director of Perioperative Services for EMH Regional Healthcare System in Elyria, Ohio. A member of the editorial board of The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing, she has written chapters for books on medical-surgical nursing and for nursing journals.
The ANA is encouraging its members to show support for nursing by voting for all nurses on the list, not just their president. "Inclusion in the 'Most Powerful' issue is an excellent way to bring higher visibility to the nursing profession and nursing's role in health," they write to their members.
